WoodWare "Raises the Bar" at the 45th annual AMD Convention!
WoodWare Systems unveiled several exciting enhancements to its database millwork package at the AMD Convention held in San Antonio, TX this October.

BROWSER-BASED FRONT END The new browser based front end showcased the future direction of the WoodWare user interface. “The powerful tools provided by our database vendor has made it easy for us to move into an environment that takes many of the headaches associated with client based architecture out of the equation” according to John Bland, VP of Engineering for WoodWare. “Basically, the user will access WoodWare through just about any Internet browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari) which means they have no software to install or maintain on their network pcs.” WoodWare has been utilizing this methodology for WebConnect, its web based customer access and ordering tool.
The other benefit is that like WebConnect, the various interfaces have a very similar look and feel which will shorten the training curve.

WEBCONNECT WoodWare’s web based tool with an enhanced “Configured Order Entry” continues to impress.  WebConnect with Configured O/E provides a fool proof method for customers and distributor sales reps to configure products by simply clicking on pictures data that quickly and easily walk them through the ordering of any product.  Configured O/E insures that all combinations are built by the distributor. Other information is also available such as Order Status, Order History, Bids, etc. Access to the information is controlled by User Name and Password set up by the distributor.

WORKFLOW WoodWare also introduced it’s new KPA (Key Performance Action) process which allows the WoodWare user to set up key actions (such as special order arrival, credit locks, short ships, etc.) that can trigger email notices from the system based on how the action is configured.

BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DeepSee Business Intelligence was also a big hit. DeepSee is native to the database which sets it apart from most BI data mining software since it can deliver dash boards, charts and drill downs in real time. (At the convention, a dashboard was configured to show a daily count of orders, daily order dollar total and a running gross profit amount, all in real time). DeepSee can also be configured to access other data sources external to the WoodWare database.

WOODWARE WMS - WOODWARE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WoodWare’s radio frequency based WMS continues to expand in functionality. Like all of the major WoodWare modules, this is written and controlled by WoodWare which gives us tremendous flexibility in keeping the integration with the main WoodWare software very tight. According to Steve Sutton, Senior Software Engineer, “We feel it is critical to our customers to control as much of the intellectual property as possible. WMS has been written from the ground up in conjunction with millwork companies and is continually enhanced based on our customer’s needs and requests.”

WoodWare President, Nick Carter is tapped to be AMD’s Associate Vice President for two year term.
The Association of Millwork Distributors has selected Nick Carter to serve on its Executive Committee. AMD (formerly the National Sash & Door Jobbers Association) made a bylaw change three years ago allowing Associate/Manufacturer members seats on the Board of Directors and one position on the Executive Committee.
Carter was one of the three original Associate members elected to the board.  He follows Sam Bell Steves, II of Steves and Sons as the second Associate Vice President.
According to Carter, “The NSDJA/AMD has been one of the most important groups we have been involved with over the past 20 years. Our industry is comprised of some very special folks and it is quite an honor to be selected to serve.”

Ron Taylor Award of Excellence presented to Don Houghton, President of Reeb Millwork
The annual Ron Taylor Award that honors a member of the Association of Millwork Distributors who has exhibited an outstanding commitment to family, community, company and our industry, was awarded to Don Houghton at the 45th annual AMD Convention.
Nick Carter, president of WoodWare Systems presented the award to Don during the Opening Ceremony.
“Ron Taylor was a very special person and friend.  I met Don through Ron, and when the RTA committee asked me to make the presentation I was thrilled.  Don and his wife Kay have become close friends and Don is very deserving of this award” according to Carter.
